Insurance: Billing

Billing for Obstetrical Care:

We bill all obstetrical fees to your insurance company at the time of your delivery. After your initial OB visit, our insurance coordinator will contact your insurance carrier for a benefit determination. This will determine what percentage of the fee is likely to be paid by them. The patient's balance will be calculated and configured into a mutually agreed upon budget payment plan, to be paid prior to delivery. If an overpayment should occur, it will be immediately refunded to you after delivery. The fee for your obstetric care may be higher if your pregnancy or delivery is determined to be complex or high risk. Examples would include twins, pre-term labor or a vaginal birth following a previous Cesarian section.

The obstetrical fee is a package which includes routine prenatal visits, vaginal delivery, hospital visits during your post-partum stay and a six week post-partum check-up. Lab work, non-routine office visits and ultrasounds will incur additional charges. A cesarean delivery carriers a higher fee and requires an assistant surgeon. Amniocentesis, circumcisions and tubal ligations are billed separately. Northwest Hospital & Medical Center will bill you directly for all hospital-associated charges.
